Why train for my first half-marthon in the winter?

Within the few months of running I began to notice I love running. I like the feeling it gives me while and after a run whether it is short or long. There is an adreline rush (or maybe slight fear) I get while running along the sidewalks of New York City.

Before this whirlwind romance with running dies I decided to prove my love for running by registering for a half-marthon in April. The More/Fitness Women's Half-Marthon is more than a race it symbolizes sisterhood and unity and I want to be apart of that.

Honestly I do not know about you, but the depressing part of winter is gaining the unnecessary weight after numerous weekends home with Ben & Jerrys icecream and romantic comedies.

If I plan to run 13 miles in April non-stop I need to start training in January.

  2. Sarai! That's an awesome goal. I plan on registering for the Yonkers Half, but I think I need to register for an event that takes place in May or June. I want that pressure and motivation to get out there and train now. I hope you have nothing but success. I plan on cheering the BGR ladies running that race.

  4. The Yonkers half is on 9/16. I plan on doing some 5k and 10k races, but I want to experience a 15k or half before doing the Yonkers Half.
